Bish, Cabral Named Top Empire Players
Brent Bish and Luis Cabral, who led Esperanza High School to the Southern Section 3-A boys’ soccer final, have been named Empire League players of the year in a vote of league coaches. Bish, who scored 24 goals this season, and Cabral, a defender who led Esperanza to 20 shutouts, are both seniors.
John Coppage of Esperanza and Gary Imai of El Dorado were named coaches of the year. Esperanza (23-3-1), which placed five players on the team, lost to Diamond Bar in the 3-A final.
