China Report Deplores Engery Waste vs. Want

BEIJING — Almost half the rural households in China are without electricity, while a serious waste of energy is stunting the nation’s economic growth, according to a report in the China Daily on Thursday.
“On the one hand, we are still in poverty. On the other, we waste extravagantly,” said a report in the publication Theoretical Information, excerpts of which were printed in the China Daily on Thursday.
It linked the lack of electricity in rural areas to “small, shabby and poorly managed” power stations with low capacity.
