Ground Breaking Today for School Named in Honor of Sen. Bergeson
Ground-breaking ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. today for an elementary school in Laguna Niguel that will be named in honor of state Sen. Marian Bergeson (R-Newport Beach).
The new Marian Bergeson Elementary is to be built in the Rancho Niguel subdivision, off Greenfield Drive.
The school is being built by the Capistrano Unified School District to accommodate the growing student population in south Orange County.
Sen. Bergeson is a member of the Senate Education Committee and has sponsored many major bills for elementary and secondary education. Before being elected to the Legislature in 1978, Bergeson served for 13 years as a school board member of the Newport-Mesa Unified School District.
