Fountain Valley : Suspect Sought in Rape at Mile Square Park

Police are investigating the rape earlier this week of a 31-year-old woman who was attacked from behind and threatened with a knife as she stood in a restroom in or near a sports complex at Mile Square Park, authorities said Thursday.

Police are still not certain whether the woman was in a restroom inside the Fountain Valley Recreation and Cultural Center or in one of the other “outlying” restrooms located throughout the park when she was assaulted and raped Monday at about 3 p.m., Police Sgt. Larry Griswold said.

The suspect was described as being white, in his early 20s, standing 5 feet, 9 inches and having thin brown hair that reaches below the collar. He was believed to have been wearing a dark T-shirt and faded jeans, police said.

Police said the suspect is not believed to be the same one who is being sought for an earlier string of rapes in Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach.
