The Region : Bomb Explodes on Sunset
A pipe bomb exploded in the middle of Sunset Boulevard, shattering a window on the eighth floor of an exclusive hotel and damaging five cars. Sheriff’s Deputy James Morrow said it was “extremely lucky” that no one was injured in the blast on the crowded West Hollywood thoroughfare favored by car cruisers and shoppers. Debris from the explosion flew at least eight stories high and outward at least 20 yards, damaging five parked cars and breaking a window on the eighth floor of the Le Bel Age Hotel, the deputy said. Morrow said no arrests have been made and detectives do not know how the bomb got in the middle of the street.
