For Better Living Inc. said that it had net earnings of $2.3 million for its fiscal 1986, compared to profits of $43,000 the year before. Sales for the fiscal year, which ended Dec. 27, were $70.1 million, up 49% from $47.1 million.
For its fourth quarter, the company earned $787,000, contrasted with a $751,000 loss in the same period the previous year. Sales of $20 million were up 60% from $12.5 million in the final period of the company’s fiscal 1985.
Company officials were not available for comment, but have said previously that the acquisition early last year of Dalworth Corp., a maker of precast concrete products based in Arlington, Tex., significantly boosted FBL’s profits in each of the first three quarters of fiscal 1986.
For Better Living is a San Juan Capistrano company that makes concrete and plastic products. The company also publishes Surfer, Powder and Sail Boarder magazines.
