The Boston Red Sox have threatened to fine star pitcher Roger Clemens $1,000 a day unless he returns to training camp in Winter Haven, Fla., by Wednesday.
Clemens walked out of camp last Friday when the Red Sox rejected his demand for a $2.4-million, two-year contract. Clemens’ agents turned down the club’s proposal of $500,000, plus $350,000 in incentive bonus money, for the 1987 season.
