An El Toro Marine has been arrested on suspicion of murder and assault with a deadly weapon after a dispute with his wife allegedly escalated into a traffic accident that claimed the life of a third person. Santa Ana police said Gregory Alan Lemos, 22, was arguing with his estranged wife, Sheila, 19, over custody of their child, and she left their apartment in a car driven by a friend. Lemos chased them in his car, investigators said, and deliberately collided with them at 17th Street and Tustin Avenue, pushing their vehicle into the intersection, where it collided with a pickup truck. A passenger in the truck, identified as Michael A. Avila, 21, of Santa Ana, was ejected and died. Lemos’ bail was set at $250,000.
