StarTel Corp. Reports Increase in 1986 Profits of More Than 600%

StarTel Corp., an Irvine maker of telecommunications products, said profits for 1986 were $445,000, a more than six-fold increase from $70,000 the prior year. Revenues totaled $11.5 million, a 5% increase over a year earlier.
For the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, net income came to $210,000, down 4% from $219,000 for the same period the previous year. Sales were $3.06 million, a 5% decline from $3.2 million.
A company release attributed the higher profitability for the year to “increased penetration and acceptance of the company’s systems in the new markets of corporate messaging, hospitals and executive suites. . . .”
