Rancho P.V. : Corky, Orky Rechristened

Corky and Orky, the killer-whale couple that entertained visitors at Marineland for two decades, have been stripped of their “hokey” names by their new owners at Sea World in San Diego.
“I thought they were kind of hokey names,” said Lanny Cornell, zoological director of Sea World, where the whales have been renamed Namu and Shamu, the names given to all killer whales at the chain of aquatic parks.
The whales were moved last month from Marineland to San Diego shortly after Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, owners of the the Sea World parks, purchased Marineland. The park has since been closed, and the new owners have decided to sell the oceanfront property.
