Gephardt to Announce Candidacy for President

ST. LOUIS — Democratic Rep. Richard A. Gephardt of Missouri plans to announce his candidacy today for the 1988 presidential nomination, becoming the first Democrat to formally enter the race, aides said Sunday. Gephardt, 46, who has served six terms in the House, will make the announcement in his hometown of St. Louis at Union Station.
