Jose Torres, chairman of the New York State Athletic Commission, saying he feared for his own job, reportedly will ask for the resignation of three commission members who allegedly broke state regulations in the Tim Witherspoon-James (Bonecrusher) Smith heavyweight title fight.
New York newspapers reported that Torres would seek the resignations of commission aide Jackie Graham, office manager Manny Sanchez and inspector Michael Weisberg.
Charges of irregularities arose after it was discovered that Carl King had managed both Witherspoon and Smith in their fight at Madison Square Garden Dec. 12.
