Tennessee Defeats USC Women, 89-75

The USC women’s basketball team, which led by as many as 17 points in the first half, ended up losing to top-ranked Tennessee, 89-75, Sunday in the second round of the Orange Bowl Invitational tournament at Coral Gables, Fla.
The Trojans were ahead, 32-15, with 5:50 to go in the first half before the Lady Vols closed to within one, 40-39, by halftime. Tennessee led, 71-54, with 7:45 left in the game.
Top scorer for Tennessee (8-0) was Bridgette Gordon with 26 points. Cherie Nelson led USC (6-2) with 23.
The Trojans will play Ohio State, a 97-63 loser to No. 2 Texas Sunday, in the third-place game tonight. Tennessee meets Texas in the championship game.
