Center Darryl Dawkins, who missed the New Jersey Nets’ last 21 games because of a freak back injury, was examined for a wrist injury suffered in an automobile accident last week, the National Basketball Assn. team said.
Dawkins has his wrist examined by team physicians during Saturday night’s game with the Cleveland Cavaliers at East Rutherford, N.J. Net spokesman Jim Lampariello said that although X-rays were negative, the wrist was placed in a cast as a precaution after the game.
The 6-foot 11-inch Dawkins was driving his car when it was involved in a minor accident on Wednesday, leaving him with a “sore and puffy” right wrist, according to Lampariello.
