Matt Young, Tim Leary: Winners or Losers?
For all of those who have been crying for Al Campanis’ scalp, he scored a 10-strike at the winter meetings by landing Tim Leary and Matt Young. Leary has always had the earmarks of a big winner, but like so many pitchers in the last few years, he just needed to find the right organization. Young gives the Dodgers a lefty out of the bullpen who can throw heat, and that was non-existent in ’86.
Finally, he was able to unload Greg Brock. I can’t want for the ’87 season to begin.
