Local News in Brief : Woman Killed in 2-Car Crash in Valencia
A 37-year-old Canyon Country woman was killed and two people were injured in an two-car crash Friday in Valencia, authorities said.
The dead woman, Karen Heilman, was a passenger in a car driven by her 17-year-old daughter, Shannon, who was turning left on Cinema Drive from westbound Valencia Boulevard, California Highway Patrol Officer David Banez said.
The car was struck broadside at 1:55 p.m. by a car heading east on Valencia Boulevard, Banez said.
The driver of the eastbound car, 19-year-old Denyse Siembieda of Saugus, was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia. Banez said she complained of minor injuries, but a hospital spokeswoman would not disclose her condition.
The spokeswoman also would not disclose Shannon’s condition.
Neither driver was arrested, but a CHP investigation is continuing, Banez said.
