Countywide : Salvation Army Looking for Adopt-a-Family Aid
The Salvation Army is seeking individual and business sponsors for its Adopt-a-Family program, which offers food, gifts and other Christmas staples to needy families.
Under the program, sponsors agree to supply a family with Christmas meals or gifts for children, or both, Salvation Army spokesmen said. But on Friday, county Salvation Army offices were still short of sponsors.
Representatives of the organization’s Santa Ana and Anaheim offices said more than 100 families are expected to be on this year’s adoption list.
But Capt. Joseph Huttenlocker of the Anaheim office said that branch has only 26 sponsors. The Garden Grove office had a dozen sponsors Friday.
“This is one of the best (charity) programs that I’ve seen because you see exactly where the money is going,” said Capt. Eric lo of the Garden Grove Salvation Army office.
To sponsor families or to receive assistance, the Salvation Army number in Anaheim is (714) 778-5460, in Garden Grove (714) 530-9244 and in Santa Ana (714) 546-7880.
