Adoptions

Bay Area Adoption Services, Inc., is a nonprofit parent-led agency specializing in international adoptions and serving families in the San Francisco area. We are state-licensed and regulated, and in our two-year history have welcomed 47 foreign-born children to date. We are concerned that a reference to us in your Dec. 5 article on El Salvador adoptions may serve to place us in a false light in the public eye by associating our agency in print with allegedly illegal activities and unscrupulous persons.

On Dec. 8, we telephoned both the U.S. Embassy in San Salvador and the State of California Department of Social Services Adoptions Branch in Sacramento to inquire as to the present status of Dr. Roberto Del Cid. We learned that Dr. Del Cid, despite earlier investigations and possible problems, is currently regarded as an acceptable facilitator of Salvadoran adoptions.
