BRUSSELS — Students in Belgium, encouraged by the success of French colleagues in preventing radical changes in education policy, called Monday for a national university strike today to protest education cuts.
Student leaders from the main French- and main Flemish-speaking universities told a news conference they will lead demonstrations and called on other universities to join in.
Parisian students returned to class last Friday after three weeks of strikes and demonstrations in France’s biggest student revolt since 1968.
