Girls’ Roundup : Egan Scores 30 Points to Lead Brea Into Final Against Katella

All-American guard Carrie Egan hit her first 10 shots and finished with 30 points on 15-of-19 shooting to lead Brea-Olinda High School to a 92-53 victory over Woodbridge Friday in the semifinals of the Brea-Olinda Holiday girls’ basketball tournament at Brea.
Brea (6-1) plays Katella today for the championship. Katella advanced to the final with a 55-45 victory over Foothill.
Egan got scoring help from reserve Denise Weiland, who had 17 points after sitting out the first quarter.
In other tournament games, Valencia defeated La Habra, 54-41, and Esperanza beat Fullerton, 54-42.
In the Rancho Grande Tournament:
Tustin 51, Chaffey 43--Guard Janice Gonzales scored 19 points, had 5 assists and 6 steals to lead the Tillers (4-2) in the third-place game. Tricia Andres added 13 points for Tustin.
In the Beverly Hills Tournament:
Estancia 43, Bellflower 39--Forward Ericka Goodman scored 14 points and had 18 rebounds to lead the Eagles (3-3) in a consolation semifinal game. Guard Shannon Suzuki added 12 points for Estancia.
