George Johnson, Retired Deputy District Attorney
George H. Johnson, retired deputy district attorney of Los Angeles County, former district attorney of San Bernardino County and a member of the 1913 state Legislature, is dead. Johnson was 99 when he died Dec. 6 in Los Angeles.
In 1913, at age 26, he became the youngest member of the Assembly and served two terms. He passed the California State Bar examination at a time when a college degree was not a requisite, but he did earn a law degree from Loyola University later.
He served as district attorney of San Bernardino County before becoming a deputy district attorney in Los Angeles in 1931. He retired in 1957 as head of the district attorney’s office in Santa Monica.
