NCAA Penalizes LSU Basketball
The National Collegiate Athletic Assn. put Louisiana State University on a year’s probation Wednesday and stripped the school of two basketball scholarships after finding nine violations of NCAA regulations.
Further sanctions will be handed down unless LSU bars Baton Rouge businessman Al Guglielmo from further booster activities, the NCAA said.
Chancellor James Wharton said the university will not appeal the NCAA’s action. LSU will, however, be eligible for the postseason playoffs and television coverage.
