Tehama County authorities charged five men with stealing Christmas trees. Raymond Hennings, 30, James Smithson, 22, and Larry Woody, 25, all of Chico, and Robert Hennings, 35, of Willows, and Michael Parkhill, 18, of Mount Shasta were accused of illegally cutting at least 666 silver tip red fir trees valued at $13,320 from private land in the Ishi Wildlife Area of Lassen National Forest--a state game preserve. Arresting officers, who said the stolen trees were discovered by a Lassen National Forest officer on routine patrol, also confiscated five firearms and charged Hennings with felony possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
