Stanton : Police Seek Driver in Hit-and-Run Accident
Police are seeking the driver of a red pickup truck they believe was involved in a hit-and-run accident early Thursday that left a bicyclist in critical condition.
Richard Specht, 20, of Garden Grove was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Chapman Avenue about 4 a.m. Thursday, Police Sgt. Steve Kelch said.
The vehicle’s driver fled the scene before officers arrived, Kelch said.
The vehicle was described as a red Ford pickup, possibly early to middle 1970s model, with no front bumper and no front license plate, police said.
Specht was taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, where a nursing supervisor said late Thursday afternoon that he was in critical condition.
No additional information was released. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact Stanton police.
