Algeria has expelled a French journalist who has worked for the Associated Press in Algiers for the last three years and who has also reported for a French newspaper and Radio France International. Joelle Stolz, 33, was told on Sunday to leave the country within 12 hours but was allowed to stay an additional day to clear up her affairs. Algerian authorities refused to give any explanation for the expulsion. However, a story Stolz wrote for the Paris newspaper Liberation on recent rioting in Constantine is thought to be the main reason. The rioting, according to reports, left a trail of wreckage and at least four dead.
