Actress Bette Midler has given birth to her first child, an 8-pound, 11-ounce girl, her agent has announced.

Midler, who will be 41 Dec. 1, and her husband Martin von Haselberg, a commodities trader, had expected the baby Oct 27, agent Mark Stern said.

Midler, who recently starred in “Down and Out in Beverly Hills,” gave birth in a Los Angeles hospital Friday.
