CONCORD, N.H. — Republican Sen. Warren B. Rudman, co-author of the Gramm-Rudman balanced-budget law, defeated Democrat Endicott Peabody, a former Massachusetts governor who had moved north, in the senate race.
Rep. Judd Gregg, a Republican incumbent, was elected to a fourth term, defeating Democrat Laurence Craig-Green.
Republican Gov. John Sununu, a proponent of nuclear power, appeared headed for a third term in the race against Democratic challenger Paul McEachern who vowed to pull the plug on the $5-billion Seabrook nuclear power plant.
