A Woodland Hills real estate broker has pleaded guilty in U. S. District Court in Los Angeles to a felony charge of evading taxes on at least $68,481 in 1982 income.
The broker, Howard C. Doolittle, 64, owner of Active Realty in Simi Valley, faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a $100,000 fine and prosecution costs, said Marla Palmer, a spokeswoman for the Internal Revenue Service.
Doolittle also will be required to pay the taxes, interest and penalties due. Asst. U.S. Atty. Laurie L. Levenson, who is handling the case, declined to disclose the minimum Doolittle owes the government, saying that prosecution costs, interest and penalties are being calculated.
The case resulted from an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division of the IRS. The sentencing of Doolittle, who pleaded guilty on Monday, was scheduled for Dec. 8.
