Forrest Skipper, leading candidate for harness racing’s horse of the year, blazed to victory in track record time of 1 minute, 53 4/5 seconds in the $100,000 Dan Patch Pace at Canterbury Downs in Shakopee, Minn.
The odds-on favorite, driven by his trainer, Lucien Fontaine, moved his career bankroll past the $1 million mark and remained undefeated in 14 appearances this year.
Forrest Skipper’s owner, Forrest Bartlett, said, “They might catch him sometime when he’s not feeling good, but no horse has beaten him this year.”
Forrest Skipper paid $2.80, $2.60 and $2.40.
