George Scott of San Bernardino, brother of former Indianapolis 500 driver Billy Scott, drove his Chrysler-powered sand dragster through a 110-yard course in 2.501 seconds to record the quickest time in practice for Sunday’s Million Dollar Drag Race in Glen Helen Park, north of San Bernardino.
World pro stock champion Bob Glidden, driving a Mustang, had the fastest time in a stock car of 7.75 seconds.
Promoter Chuck Foster announced that a restriction limiting attendance to 5,000 spectators for Sunday’s winner-take-all competition, had been lifted.
