CSUN Soccer Faces Chapman Tonight
The Cal State Northridge soccer team, ranked No. 4 in Division II, plays host to Chapman tonight at 7:30 at North Campus Stadium.
The Matadors, who beat Chapman last season once to win the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. title and again to advance in the NCAA regionals, are coming off a 3-1 win over Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Forward Joey Kirk scored two goals late in the second half to secure the win. Kirk, a junior, leads CSUN with 10 goals and is tied with Mike McAndrew with eight assists. Kirk has scored five goals in CSUN’s last two games.
CSUN (5-0-1, 11-2-2 overall) beat Chapman, 2-0, earlier this season. The Matadors are unbeaten in their last nine games. Chapman (3-3, 9-7-1 overall) last beat Bakersfield, 7-2.
