The two giant Japanese electronics companies will be working jointly on a new family of 32-bit microprocessor products. Each company had an independent project on the 32-bit microprocessor--a computing chip that would be twice as fast as the current standard--but agreed to cooperate, to attempt to establish an early lead in the market.
