Hawaii Gains 429 Yards; CS Fullerton Is Held to 10 Yards Rushing and Loses, 26-15

HONOLULU — Gregg Tipton passed for 225 yards and two touchdowns as Hawaii beat Cal State Fullerton, 26-15, Saturday night.
The Rainbows, of the Western Athletic Conference, have a 4-2 record. The Titans, of the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn., are 2-7.
Freshman tailback Clayton Mahuka helped lead the Rainbow offense, which racked up 429 total yards. Mahuka rushed for 77 yards and caught 3 passes for 65 yards.
Hawaii, which came into the game ranked second nationally in defense, allowed Fullerton only 224 yards--10 by rushing.
Fullerton’s Rick Calhoun, the nation’s sixth leading rusher, opened the scoring with an 87-yard punt return but was held to 19 yards in 10 carries.
Fullerton plays host to Fresno State Thursday night in a game to be televised by ESPN.
