Fullback Pat Evans rushed for 116 yards and 1 touchdown at San Diego Saturday as Air Force moved into first place in the Western Athletic Conference with a come-from behind 22-10 victory over San Diego State.
Evans, who carried 24 times, scored on a 1-yard run and paced an Air Force offense that rolled up 314 yards rushing.
The Falcons are 5-1 in conference play, 6-2 overall. San Diego State is 3-1 in the WAC, 4-3 overall.
BYU, 37, Texas El Paso 13--Steve Lindsley, who completed 17 of 29 attempts for 228 yards, scored on runs of 5 and 10 yards, and threw a 29-yard pass to Bruce Hansen at Provo, Utah, as the Cougars avenged their only WAC loss last year.
Lakei Heimuli rushed 26 times for 149 yards for BYU (5-2, 3-1) UTEP is 0-5 and 2-7.
Colorado St. 20, Wyoming 15--At Fort Collins, Colo., fullback Steve Bartalo scored on runs of one and nine yards, and cornerback Jim King intercepted four passes as the Rams (5-2) improved their hopes for a title by boosting their WAC record to 3-1. Wyoming fell to 4-4 and 2-2.
Bartalo, the top rusher in WAC history, gained 117 yards in 33 carries, boosting his career total to 4,171.
