Circuit City’s Stores Multiply, Offices Started
Four new Circuit City stores are scheduled to open today in Fresno, Santa Barbara, South Coast (Orange County) and Compton. At least eight additional stores will be constructed in 1987, a Circuit City spokesman said.
The store openings come less than three weeks after Circuit City’s ground-breaking for corporate offices and warehouse in the City of Industry.
Circuit City, a national home-electronics retailer headquartered in Richmond, Va., began its California expansion by taking over and remodeling many former Akron locations. The company is now building its Superstores “from the ground up.”
Circuit City currently has five stores in the Southern California area, all of which opened on Nov. 1, 1985.
