A Scripps Memorial Hospital employee was found stabbed to death Friday inside his apartment in East San Diego, his hands and feet tied with tape, police reported.
The victim, identified as Thomas Edward Ackeret, 47, was discovered about 1:15 p.m. by a co-worker who had gone to Ackeret’s home on 35th Street to find out why the nuclear medicine technologist had not shown up for work, detectives said. Ackeret was lying on a mattress with multiple stab wounds in his upper body.
Although a motive for the killing was unclear, the apartment had been ransacked, indicating Ackeret may have been slain during a robbery, police said.
