The Joint Chiefs of Staff will conduct a two-week global command , control and communications exercise to test procedures for mobilizing and deploying forces for a non-nuclear war in several theaters of operation, the Pentagon said. Scheduled to run from Monday to Nov. 7, the exercise will include the headquarters of all 10 of the unified and specified commands of the military services and several civilian agencies. The Pentagon said the exercise, called “Power Sweep,” is intended to “reveal shortcomings and procedural difficulties . . . to improve our ability to respond in the event of a crisis.”
