Viewpoint / Letters : Year After Year, Donahue Does It the Hard Way

How could UCLA’s dream season be turned into a nightmare? One big reason is the head coach’s attitude. Terry Donahue has, quite literally, worried and fretted so much that his football team now reflects it. With all the talent and depth the Bruins have, it is amazing how impotent and pathetic this football team looks, especially on offense. Donahue has once again adopted an overly cautious, play-not-to-lose attitude. His Bruins have little fire or fight.

While he goes into his shell, terrified of taking any risks or trying anything imaginative, the athletic ability of a large group of athletes goes to waste.
