CSUN Soccer Team Beats San Luis Obispo
John Tronson moved closer to breaking two school scoring records Wednesday night as the Cal State Northridge men’s soccer team opened defense of its California Collegiate Athletic Assn. title with a 2-1 victory at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
Tronson scored CSUN’s second goal--his sixth of the season--to give him 41 career goals, four short of the school record set by Jose Peres. Tronson, the two-time CCAA player of the year, has 98 career points, 10 shy of Peres’ school record of 108.
Mike Harvey scored the first goal of the game for Northridge. It was his first of the season. Forward Quinn Allen scored the solo goal for Cal Poly SLO, ranked No. 8 in NCAA Division II.
Northridge, which has won two straight CCAA titles, is 7-2-1 overall and ranked fourth in NCAA Division II. The Matadors face conference rival Chapman on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Chapman.
