Clippers’ Valentine Looking Elsewhere; Newcomer Williams May Return to Italy

Free-agent point guard Darnell Valentine of the Clippers is reportedly negotiating with the New Jersey Nets in an attempt to obtain an offer sheet.

Valentine is involved in a contract dispute with the Clippers and didn’t report to the opening of training camp Friday at Cal Poly Pomona.

Meanwhile, free-agent forward Sam Williams said he’ll play in Italy this season if he can’t work out a deal with the Clippers.

“I’d rather play in L.A. because it’s my hometown,” Williams said. “I’m not asking for a lot of money; all I want is a guarantee.”
