Prosecutors filed misdemeanor charges against a bus driver who allegedly spit on other motorists and threw a can at a car from his Southern California Rapid Transit District bus. As a result, driver Victor I. Garcia, 34, was fired, an RTD spokesman said. Garcia was free on $5,000 bail after his arrest by two police officers who witnessed the incident, said a spokesman for the city attorney’s office. In addition to misdemeanor charges of battery and throwing an object at a moving vehicle, Garcia also was cited for speeding and unsafe lane changes while driving his bus south on Broadway.
