Two people were killed and four others were injured when a car swerved across a sidewalk and crashed into the wall of an Oakland hotel. The driver, Raul Olivar, 19, of Oakland, and an unidentified passenger were killed when the car crashed into the Hotel Lake Merritt, and police detained the two occupants of a second car that witnesses said may have been racing with Olivar’s vehicle. Four other passengers in Olivar’s car were hospitalized with injuries. Investigators said occupants of both cars had just come from a bar.
