Donahue Selects Franey as UCLA’s Placekicker
UCLA football Coach Terry Donahue selected David Franey, a fifth-year senior, as his placekicker Thursday for Saturday’s season opener against Oklahoma at Norman, Okla.
Franey, who has never attempted a field goal in a college game, won the job over redshirt freshman Alfredo Velasco and succeeds All-American John Lee.
Velasco was named to kick off by Donahue, who also picked sophomore Harold Barkate as the Bruins’ punter.
