Arson Squad Probing Val Verde Canyon Fire
A brush fire believed to have been set by an arsonist Wednesday charred 175 acres in Hasley Canyon, a mountainous stretch of Val Verde, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
There were no reports of injuries or property damage in the fire, which started shortly before 2 p.m. and was contained at 4 p.m., fire Capt. Terry Hart said.
About 160 firefighters from eight engine crews and three helicopters responded to the blaze, he said.
The arson squad of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the fire, Hart said.
