Long Beach : Moratorium on 3rd Street
The City Council Tuesday unanimously approved a moratorium on the building of multifamily homes in an eight-block area along 3rd Street.
The moratorium was ordered in response to residents’ complaints about increased density and lack of parking. The moratorium expires March 2, and affects land along 3rd Street from Coronado to Molino avenues.
The area is now zoned for multifamily units, said Max Ahmadi, zoning information officer. The moratorium was requested by Councilman Wallace Edgerton, who said that the city has recently received applications from developers to build nearly 800 multifamily units.
