Soprano Joan Sutherland canceled a scheduled appearance in a concert this week with Luciano Pavarotti after suffering a perforated eardrum. After developing an ear infection, Sutherland suffered a perforated eardrum when her plane landed in San Francisco, said San Francisco Opera spokesman Scott Horton. He said Sutherland on Monday canceled her appearance on doctor’s orders.
