When KTTV recently showed “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” at 1:30 a.m., late as it was, I looked forward to seeing this first-rate movie. Before the movie began, KTTV announced that the movie was edited for television. Because scenes were cut out from the movie, I was very disappointed. It was like being invited to a Thanksgiving dinner and expecting to be served turkey; instead I was served peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Come on, KTTV, if you can’t show a movie in its entirety, then don’t show it at all.
