SON IS BORN TO ‘TODAY’ CO-HOST JANE PAULEY
NEW YORK — Jane Pauley, co-host of NBC’s “Today” show, gave birth Wednesday to a 7-pound, 6-ounce boy at a New York hospital, and it was announced on the air by her television co-anchor, Bryant Gumbel.
Pauley’s husband, “Doonesbury” creator Garry Trudeau, called the control booth at NBC at about 7:30 a.m. to tell the crew of the birth.
“He just called to let us know,” said NBC spokesman Bill McAndrew. “He said, ‘Jane has had a baby--7 pounds, 6 ounces.”’
“Mother and child are doing fine,” McAndrew said, adding that no name had been chosen for the baby.
Pauley was to resume her hosting duties Oct. 10, her 10th anniversary on the popular morning show.
She and Trudeau have 2-year-old twins, Richard Ross and Rachel.
