Unbeaten Gulch, ridden by Angel Cordero, scored a 3 1/2-length victory over Persevered in the $166,200 Hopeful Stakes for 2-year-olds at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
In posting his fourth straight win, the son of Mr. Prospector-Jameela passed front-running Brothers N Law at the top of the stretch and put away Persevered, ridden by Gary Stevens, in the stretch.
Flying Granville ran third, another 7 1/2 lengths back, in the field of four and was followed by Brothers N Law.
Gulch, timed in 1:16 2/5 for 6 1/2 furlongs, paid $2.60 and $2.10. There was no show betting.
