U.S. citizens living abroad evade paying as much as $2 billion a year in federal taxes, according to a report released by a House subcommittee. In addition, the report said, U.S. citizens living at home and businesses dodge additional billions of dollars of tax liability by failing to report income they earn from abroad, such as from interest on deposits in foreign banks or dividends on stocks they own in foreign companies. Of U.S. citizens living abroad, about 60% do not file returns, the House report said.
